Energy development from landfill gas extracted from our landfill sites is supported by the Government as part of the non fossil fuel initiatives to increase amounds of renewable energy.

At our Auchencarroch landfill site, a fourth 1 megawatt gas engine has recently been installed, and a fifth 1MW engine is planned for Garlaff.

The combined electricity generation output of 9MW will provide enough energy to satisfy the electricity needs for around 10,000 homes.
